I’m not going to lie, I almost missed My Boy KERSHAW!1!’S almost no-hitter.

I was watching the game and he was no-no’d through three (which, let’s face it, is pretty normal for someone of KERSHAW!1!’S ability and good looks) when I left to go to breakfast.

As I’m sitting there waiting impatiently for my food, I decided to check the score of the game on my phone. That’s when I see this headline on Yahoo Sports’ home page:

‘Kershaw working on no-hitter’

I didn’t know your heart could both leap and sink at the same time.

It lept because he was doing it! All those nights when I’ve stared up at the moon thinking about My Boy KERSHAW!1!’S first (of many) no-hitters, knowing he was staring up at that same moon thinking the same thing, were finally paying off.

It sank because I was stuck in some stupid hipster restaurant in Echo Park and couldn’t be there to send my love through the TV.

I frantically looked around for my waitress to tell her I needed my order to go. I told the others in my family that I had a family emergency to take care of. It’s not really a lie, I mean, KERSHAW!1! and I are practically related.

And then, before my chorrizo breakfast quesadilla could even get to me, Cody Ross had spoiled the magic.

But, oh, it was magical, wasn’t it? I can’t wait for the first time it actually happens and I can hold him in my arms and whisper “we did it”.
