Wait Training: The 3 Worst Waiting Periods in Sports

Much like oil and clean air, patience is a natural resource dwindling rapidly no matter how much Axl Rose encourages us. Our current society is built around having everything we want instantly and constantly… sports are no exception. But I’m sure we all agree that delays within games, seasons and playoffs have become ridiculous. Here are the three worst waiting periods in sports:

1. Days in between the 1st and 2nd weeks of the NCAA Tournament

They tease us by offering insane amounts of basketball on the first weekend, but it’s crammed into 4 days. It’s the broadcasting equivalent of trying to wear your junior high PE clothes. Then no basketball for 3 days, which feels like an entire offseason, while the media beats uninteresting storylines into the ground.

2. The two weeks before the Super Bowl

Speaking of beating storylines into the ground, the media’s oversaturation is so egregious that the papparazzi frown upon their fanaticism [rim shot]. They beat stories so far into the ground that when watered properly and exposed to moderate sunlight, the stories produce other overblown stories come harvest time.

 3. The last 2 minutes of every close basketball game

I love basketball. It’s one of my favorite sports to watch live or on TV. The continuous flow of play and energy make it unique among sports…. which is the polar opposite of  what’s on display in the last two minutes. Free throws and fouls get very boring quickly. Not to mention it’s just false hope when your team is behind.

  • Last 2 minutes of a Philadelphia Eagles Game!

  • you forgot to include the first half as well, big red and mcnabb have no fucking clue what a 2 minute drill is
