The Football Fast Five: Super Bowl!
Why is this post coming to you on a Tuesday? Mainly because the Super Bowl kicked my ass so hard on Sunday that I couldn’t manage to get out of bed Monday except to continue throwing up. Shots of Absinthe at the start of each quarter? Sure, why not. What’s the worst that could happen…
1. Greatest Super Bowl ever?
No. Not even close. Yeah, it was a good game with a great 4th quarter, but to me it doesn’t even top last year’s game. Our very own Philguard has already done an excellent write up on this matter, so I will defer to him.
2. Where was Fitzy in the first half?
This is the one thing that really bugs me about Arizona’s gameplan/execution. Larry Fitzgerald, arguably the hottest receiver ever during these playoffs, gets held to one catch in teh first half. Not crazy, considering the Steelers probably put extra coverage on him. But then in the second half Fitzy goes off for over 100 yards and 2 TDs so…why did it take so long to get your most dynamic player going? I understand not forcing the ball to any one player (especially with 2 other 1,000 yard receivers and on the field) but once you realize you’re not moving the ball so well, maybe we take a couple shots at the big guy. Maybe.
3. Why can’t I root for the Steelers?
This is a question I don’t honestly have an answer for. It’s not like I hate them like I hate the Patriots or the Red Sox, I just cannot, under any circumstances root for them to win. Any insight into this (from other Steelers haters out there) would be grand.
4. How soon until our first mock drafts start showing up?
Not soon enough! For another reason that is unbeknownst to me, I love reading “experts” predicting where people will go in the draft. Maybe it has to do with the addition of drama on the actual day (”no way! SI had him going 17th!”) or just more time killing done at work, but I’m ready to start hearing arguments and updates on who’s life the Lions are going to ruin come April.
5. Next year’s surprise Super Bowl team is?
On going on record right now saying that Bengals are going all the way next year. Is that a total homer pick? Of course it is! But at this point, I have no better shot at trying to figure out which team is going to come out of nowhere next year and end up in the big game.
Well guys, it’s been a wonderful NFL season. Thanks for joining me on this magical ride, and I look forward to your sneering comments when I switch over and start writing about MLB and NBA crap that no one really cares about.
