Recently, I came across my football/basketball card collection with a bunch of stuff from my parent’s place. Periodically, I’ll take the time to highlight a few of my favorites.

1992 Upper Deck Coach’s Report: Will Furrer

In case you’d forgotten about Will Furrer, like most sports fans, he was the 1992 4th round draft pick of the Chicago Bears. He’s the cornerstone of the horrible QB draft pick tradition of the Monsters of the Midway. Since this is a special “Coach’s Report” card (also known as an insert for the non-dorks out there), there are notes on the back about Furrer from Hall of Fame Coach Chuck Noll. That is why this card is particularly funny. Here are two of the notes directly from Noll’s desk:

- Reminds me of a left-handed Don Strock out of the same college

-I think he has a good chance to put up some good numbers in the NFL

He probably is the closest thing to a left-handed Don Strock to come out of VA Tech since… Don Strock, but his numbers aren’t what I would call “good”.
